Importance of Gratitude

Weeds.
Electric bills.
Dirty laundry.
Kids needing help with their math.
So many daily obligations.
It’s easy to forget about gratitude in our daily routine.

But what really is gratitude? Is it something that we use to make a list of our blessings, or something we feel when we go on vacation?

It isn’t always easy to remember gratitude, but it is possible, and essential. Those weeds? They are a blessing, if you have weeds, then you have a garden. You can help life grow. Electric bills? You have a home with light, and heat. Dirty laundry? You have clothes to wear. Kids? The blessing of having a family.

Gratitude is a matter of perspective. How you view your daily life is a wonderful way to develop contentment and happiness. I’ve worked to develop gratitude as a habit.

At night when I review my day, I try to go to sleep with gratitude when I recall my day. Embracing gratitude as a habit has helped me keep my life in perspective.

The more you focus on the good in your life and consciously feel gratitude for life, the more you will see that you are a positive force in your own life and in your loved one’s lives. This habit has made me a stronger, happier, human being.

Next week, make a dairy every night. List the events of the day, and what you can feel gratitude for in every one. By the end of the week, you will notice that you feel less stress. You’ll feel stronger, and those annoying problems? Less annoying.

Give it a try.
